A few months back I was fortunate enough to be commissioned a second time by Essential Edinburgh for another public art project on Rose Street, just a few meters up the road from the printed papercut mural I made for the Roxburghe Hotel in November last year. This time my papercut designs are being cut into steel sheets and fitted to the individual window segments of the BT Phone Exchange, a beautiful historic building. The first changes to the windows are now complete and it has felt great to see Totem Signs apply the background ‘canvas’ to the windows, slowly bringing the project to life.
Just because I like making a bit of a fuss, I thought I would just post the first out of ten papercut designs for now in order to give you a little taste of what is to come. For those who are interested in poetry, I hope you will enjoy hunting down and reading the full piece!
